Since our traditional plywood boat race has been cancelled due to COVID-19, we need your help now more than ever!
In an effort to still raise awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and funds to continue serving children in need of early language intervention, we will be live streaming a generous volunteer carpenter taking on the challenge of building a plywood boat and paddling it in the water in 90 minutes from Granville Island. Please visit and share The Plywood Cup Casts Off Online to learn more about the event on June 20th, 2020!
Ways to donate:
The Plywood Cup is an outdoor fundraiser which involves making a boat out of plywood in ninety minutes! Each team of four is given a bag of nails, two sheets of plywood, and some duct tape, with which to build a seaworthy craft. Then some lucky member of the team paddles it across False Creek and back! The Plywood Cup goes to the team that raises the most funds.
This fundraiser is enjoyed by all, and always provides a great “team-building” experience for corporate participants. Most importantly, it raises some much needed funds to help support children to better communicate, and actively participate in the world around them. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000.
